I'm glad those drought days are over and the water is back in the Pecos. It may happen again someday, so i'm going to enjoy it while it's here. This is a pic from a dumb idea. We drug the canoe nearly a mile to get to a spot we could drop in at. The silt was said to be 20-30 feet deep and the closer we got to the river channel the more we were getting stuck. I remember people laughing at us from the top of highbridge. We wanted to get upriver that bad I guess. It was one of the longer days in my life, but still had a blast even though we never could get close to the river.
The other day a fellow fisherman asked me some questions about the Pecos River and it started making me think of the old days down in Pandale. Talk about great fishing. These pics were from 1999. One of many, many trips here.
We usually get on the water around 9:30am since its a 3 hours drive there, and spend most the day walking, dragging, pushing, pulling and cussing that stinkin canoe. Back in the day it was more for the adventure than the fishing. That has definitely changed through the years. Nowadays, trips are planned around the fish.
